Why is it that vacations always go by so quickly? Our trip went by way faster than I would have liked but we had an awesome time! The weather was beautiful and it was great to see some of Tyler’s family.
Since we were celebrating Tyler’s Birthday while we were there, we had dinner at California Grill on top of Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
We had a gorgeous view that looked something like this at sunset.
They had a really cool observation deck which allows you to get a closer view of Magic Kingdom. Tyler’s sister Kelly and I went to check it out before we ate. Do you like how the wind arrange my hair? Looks like half of Mickey’s ears. Just sayin’…
Anyhoo, back to the yummy stuff. We started with a cheese plate.
And some fresh, sourdough bread that was served with salted butter. I had never had salted butter before but, really, its not rocket science. Just sprinkle some kosher salt in butter and voila! This was delish but we were just getting started.
We had some drinks.
And shared the most delicious flat bread I have ever eaten. It was four-cheese with sundried tomatoes and pesto on top. So. Freaking. Good.
Then I had a Goat Cheese Ravioli that was almost as big as my head. I had to order it because it reminded me of my own Goat Cheese, Sundried Tomato and Artichoke Ravioli. I’ll have to admit, I think theirs may have been a tad better than mine. But just a tad.
Then came our entrees. They actually didn’t consider my entree an entree but rather a salad. It sure doesn’t look like any salad I’ve ever eaten but man oh man was it good!
It was fried green tomatoes with lump crab meat and a spicy remoulade. Southern to a “T”, this dish was perfectly light and refreshing. Which was exactly what I needed after all we’d eaten already. And what was to come…because no birthday would be complete without a cake!
Despite what you may think from the picture, he did share his cake with us. The Disney pastry chef’s did a great job with it! So great that it didn’t last long enough for me to take a picture. Whoops.
Contrary to popular belief, we didn’t just eat while we were on vacation though…although we did do a lot of that.
We took a trip to Typhoon Lagoon.
Took a ride on the new and improved Dumbo Ride.
And let Tyler’s nephew take us for a spin in the go-carts.
But alas, all good things must come to an end and we had to head back to Richmond yesterday. Not without a slight flight delay though which put us back even later than we were originally scheduled.
As if I wasn’t tired and cranky enough adjusting back to my normal schedule but the pollen is still in full force around here and it hit me like a ton of bricks this morning. Sneezing, watery, itchy eyes and a runny nose which means sore throat. Lovely.
I’m the first one to say how much I love the spring but geez louise does the pollen have to be so bad? Someone let me know when the April showers have washed it all away. Please and thank you.
