Today is a very, very exciting day for me! Today is the day that I get to host my first giveaway courtesy of OXO. I ran across their Blogger Outreach Database a few weeks ago and joined immediately. Within a few days I got an email saying that I had been chosen to be a part of a giveaway! I’m sure you can imagine my excitement.
I’m sure many of you have an OXO product in your home and now you have the opportunity to have another one! They gave me 2 of their Good Cookie Spatulas for free. Yes, you heard me correctly, FREE! Free.99. Alright, I’ll stop. But seriously, this is so incredibly generous of them. They gave me one to use in my post and one to giveaway to a reader. I am so honored to have been chosen, especially because of the cause.
50% of all proceeds from Good Cookie Spatulas go to pediatric cancer research and OXO has committed to up to $100,000 for 2011 going to Cookies for Kid’s Cancer. You can learn more about the cause here and the spatula has an informational pamphlet attached.
Here is how to enter:
Comment on this post before 6:00pm EST tomorrow, Friday, December 2nd stating what your favorite type of cookie is this time of year. The winner will be announced on Saturday’s post.
Of course, being told you’re being given a “cookie” spatula got me thinking about what kind of cookies I wanted to bake for the post. Since it’s officially December (where has this year gone?!) obviously Christmas cookies were high on my list of possibilities, especially when I found these. Apparently it wasn’t meant to be though because I can’t seem to find Ande’s Peppermint Crunch Baking Chips anywhere. Alas, I came up with something I thought y’all would absolutely love.
These were inspired partially by the Oreo Balls I made for Thanksgiving and partially by this recipe from Picky Palate. Sweet Mother of Mary were they good! They seriously taste like a Cookies ‘n Cream bar (my favorite candy bar).
As I’ve told y’all before, I’m not much of a baker so this was the first time I have ever made cookies from scratch. I will say, it was much easier than I anticipated and so worth it. Totally should have done this sooner. Expect many more cookie creations!
Cookies n’ Cream Cookies
Adapted from Picky Palate
- 1 stick softened butter
- 6 Tablespoons sugar
- 6 Tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 1 ¼ Cup flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 sleeve Oreos, chopped
- 1 Cup white chocolate chips
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream butter, and sugars until well combined. Add egg and vanilla until mixed well.
2. Place flour, baking soda and salt into a large bowl, stir to combine. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients then stir in oreos and chocolate chips until everything is thoroughly mixed in.
3. Scoop with a teaspoon onto a parchment or silpat lined baking sheet. Bake for 12-16 minutes or until cooked, but still soft. Let cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.
Although I may be a lot little biased, these are seriously the best cookies I have ever had. Definitely a new favorite around these parts.

So 1. these cookies sound & look amazing. 2. they reminding me of chocolate chip cookies that I use to make, which i haven’t made in forever. I originally made the cookies from scratch but that takes alot of work, so i normally go with the bag stuff (bc im lazy). Anyway plain and simple chocolate chip cookie, however after cooled dip a rounded edge of cookie in white chocolate and let set and then you dip another edge in milk chocolate or semi sweet chocolate. So the white and the dark chocolate should be overlapping (not sure if that makes sense). They look very pretty presentation wise and it gives an extra lil something to a plain chocolate chip cookie.
PS: i love your blog and i kinda want to eat dinner at your house often! Everything looks soo good

These cookies look soooo delish – I’m a fan of all-things white chocolate & Oreos (apparently you have an addiction to the Oreos as well)!! My favorites are white chocolate chip cookies with NO macadamia nuts – am also a BIG fan of the lemon squares, either made from scratch or the box!
Love your blog, Ryan – no family bias at all!!

I LOVE Sal’s lemon bars…I’m gonna need that recipe. I actually considered making white chocolate chip with macadamia nut cookies but have you ever tried to find them in the store? Impossible.

I bought some white chocolate chip w/ macadamia nut cookies in a tollhouse package – find it in the dairy section. There aren’t too many but you break them apart and cook.

Well, I will warn you, it completely knocked me on my ass for a good 2 weeks. I underestimated how bad recovery was going to be as an adult and it sucked. I also had a lot of trouble once the scabs fell off so be careful with that too. However, I’m looking forward to not having as much trouble with them anymore so I’m glad I did it. Not to mention, it’s a great way to keep off some of those holiday pounds that creep up on you haha Good luck! I hope you heal quickly!

gotta say my favorite christmas cookies are M&M cookies. same basic recipe as toll-house cookies, but add M&Ms instead of chocolate chips.
i made them one year for a fellow van halen fan and took out all of the brown ones-just like their green room contract used to stipulate back in the day.
